Random Ramblers Make Peace With Themselves Over Thai

The Random Ramblers Crew took a two week vacation due to Easter and frankly we just needed a chill weekend to just kick back and relax. We would like to apologize to our weekly readers and hope you all understand the circumstances that lead to our absence. I hope we were missed.

This week’s adventure just sort of happened. Cadin was meeting friends for a movie so he sat this one out. This particular adventure wasn’t planned so I wasn’t able to get a hold of my good friend Lisa so her presence was greatly missed. Joining us this week is our very special guest my husband Jason. We were all really happy to be on an adventure with him for it had been awhile since he last appeared on one of our adventures. With all that being said sit back relax and enjoy!

It all started out with us dropping Cadin off at the theater. We asked Cadin to check what time the movie was out so we would know when to pick him up. He told us 4:30p.m. As we were driving away trying to figure out what to do I noticed the time and it was 3:45p.m. So I thought to myself hmmmmmmm…… a movie that starts at 3:45p.m. & ends at 4:30p.m. this to me just doesn’t make sense. I finally put two and two together that the movie doesn’t really start till 4:30p.m. So I figure we have about two hours for an adventure. It must be something simple.

I take a peek at Jason and say “How about the Peace Bowl.” Jason then goes on to say that it has been so long since we have been there that we will never be able to find it. Being the adventurous person that I am I set off to Kirkland to try to find the Peace Bowl. We made it to a familiar street and saw the entrance to what I thought was the right place. We all pile out of Jack and head toward the trail. While walking on the trail I have a feeling that we aren’t in the right place and Jason agrees. The biggest sign that we were headed in the wrong direction would actually be a sign that read KING COUNTY PROPERTY Enter and Use at Your Own Risk. Um yeah I am now starting to picture orange King County trucks chasing us on the trails because we aren’t really supposed to be there. We turn around and head back to Jack.

Jason then tells me “I think it is over in another part of Kirkland” called Houghton. I turn Jack around and head to Houghton. As we proceed up the hill to Houghton it all starts coming back to us. Jason yells “go Right.” At the last minute I took a right in to a neighborhood all the way through to a dead end and a small trail opening. Jason gets out to be sure and confirms we are at the right spot. With that said we hit the trails. Not too far on the path we make it to an opening and the infamous Peace Bowl. This concrete bowl is huge and in the middle is a Peace sign. You can climb down in the bowl and walk around. We had to be super careful though it looks like a place where people go to party. There is a lot of broken glass. Off to the right side is an over grown trail that leads to a huge tree. If you climb down to the tree you can climb it and get an amazing view of Seattle.

After thirty minutes or so we head back to Jack and to go pick up Cadin. On our way to get Cadin I notice a lady waiting at a bus stop with some random attire. I just had to get a picture of her. She must design her own clothing. Coen thought it would be great to snap a shot of the VW Bug rock right by Crossroads Theater, it just so happens to be right in front of the Washington State Licensing office. It is 5:30 and I have no idea what time Cadin’s movie lets out and of course I forgot my cell phone at home. That’s right folks you had better sit down for this one. I have a CELL PHONE!!!! All it took for Jason to agree was getting a promotion at work and even then he was still leery. I am such a big girl now. The guy at the window told me we still had another hour before the movie was over. Jason and I decided to go to Thai Chef for dinner.

Thai Chef is one of our favorite Thai restaurants that we usually order to go, but since we had and hour to blow we decided to eat in. It had been awhile since I had been in there. They completely remodeled and it looked really nice inside and super clean. We ordered 2 orders of Shrimp Pad Thai with extra shrimp one 4 star one 0 star, Spicy Basil with chicken and Satay Chicken for starters. All of our dishes were superb! Hands down to the chef at Thai Chef! Besides the food the next best part of this restaurant is the service. It is a family owned and operated restaurant. The owners and workers are so nice and polite. We have been going here for years. The couple that runs the show even remembers our regular order. Thai Chef is the place to go in Bellevue for Thai. Thai chef has the Ramblin Ramblers Crew Stamp of approval! Please note the pictures of the food don't look that great because we realized after we started eating we had forgotton to take the pics. Trust me it is yummy!

That concludes our adventure for this week. We invite you to enjoy our next adventure with us. Anybody who wants to a special guest star just let me know and we can pencil you in. We have no idea what we are doing next week; maybe we will finally be able to look for Henry who knows what next weekend will bring. Until then have a wonderful week!

Random Ramblers Crew Abducted by Aliens and Monsters While Being Lost on Trains in North Bend!?!

Greetings fellow readers! I hope all was well with you this week. This week’s adventure had road block once again. That seems to be the theme lately. I had to spread out what we were doing over the whole weekend due to engagements that couldn’t be changed. We didn’t have a chance to find the local Seattle artist as we had planned to find but, I think the spur of the moment trip we conjured up does some justice. So, sit back, relax and enjoy yet another adventure via the Random Ramblers Crew.

I had been promising the boy’s to take them to the new movie that just came out Monsters vs. Aliens. It seemed like a perfect Saturday to go to the show. Sunday Coen has soccer and the boy’s are scheduled to go to Grammy and Grampy’s for the week for spring break, not to mention we are scheduled to attend a previous special guests 1st birthday Cruise. (She is the one who likes to eat wind.) We all pack in Jack and head to Lincoln Square in Bellevue of course to take in the new Pixar film. We decided to try it in IMAX 3-D. Our first IMAX experience how exciting!! Baby Kalyx was dropped off with Ms. Nicole for few hours she had to take one for the team there is no way she can handle a movie yet. As we settle in and put on our ridiculous looking glasses the show begins. I have never been to a “real” 3-D movie before and quickly realize the craze as I jump at the first 3-D action. Cool was all I could think. The movie was a hit the only complaints were that first I didn’t buy popcorn because we had just eaten lunch and second most of the 3-D action was during the 1st part of the movie. All in all we did have a blast. No Pictures though after all it is a movie.

On Sunday we woke up and got ready to go to baby Cruise’s 1st birthday party. We head to Redmond to party it up!! We arrive at my FFF’s Bekki’s house (Cruise’s Auntie.) Low and behold a bounce house!!! Yay!! We go on in to enjoy pizza from Garlic Jim’s what a fabulous piece of pizza or two that I ate. Cruise had a bounce house for her party so Kalyx and her good friend Addison had “girl time” bouncing away in the house. Once the boy’s entered it was over for Kalyx they are too crazy for her. We wrapped up the party watching the kids bat at the piƱata and Cruise open presents while enjoying some yummy cupcakes. After we said our goodbyes it’s off to pick up my good friend Lisa once again at Herfy’s.

We arrive to pick up Lisa and rush like bats out of hell to get to Coen’s Soccer game in time. We are about five minutes late when we arrive so Coen naturally takes off running to support his team. Coen did pretty well this game he was so close to getting his first goal ever. He mostly plays goalie that’s the reason he lacks goals. The Skeletons (Coen’s team.) lost by two to the tigers. Nice try Skeletons!!(Note this pic is older but it works)

After the game we are scheduled to meet up with my pops and Jane in North Bend to ship Cadin and Coen off to visit Grammy and Grampy’s house. Out of the corner of my eye I see a new restaurant that has taken over what used to be a Denny’s it is now a Los Cabos. After convincing my dad to go there we head on in to grab a table. We were seated immediately and chips and salsa weren’t far behind. I have to say Los Cabos has the best salsa that I have ever eaten at a Mexican restaurant. Yummy!! The boys ordered hard shell chicken tacos and my dad, Jane and Lisa all ordered chicken enchiladas. I ordered a Chile Relleno with chicken. Baby Kalyx ordered frijoles and arroz. Everyone loved their food. My relleno was super good to the last bite. The enchilada ordering folks couldn’t quit talking about how delicioso they were. The boy’s ate their tacos in silence which is always a good sign. One honorable mention was our server Omar, what a delightful gentleman. We appreciated his outgoing spirit and how he was so eager to please his customers. He made our dining experience exceptional. Good job Los Cabos you have passed the Random Ramblers stamp of approval.

After our very filling meal we say our goodbyes to Cadin and Coen and go in search of the train graveyard. On our way out we stumble upon some busses that appear to be carrying cadets of some sort. We thought that was Random enought to be an honorable mention. After getting lost in North bend circling around taking pictures of random stuff we get the nerve up to stop at this random art gallery to ask for directions to the train graveyard. We ask the gallery owner who shall remain nameless how to find this mysterious place. He directed us to the right town we should have been in Snoqualmie. How do you get lost in North Bend you ask and the answer is simple. Just ask my FFF Bekki and Jessica they will point you in the wrong direction. We then commented on the bark Sasquatch he created. He went on to tell us this horrifying story about his statue. His story consisted of two women that stopped to take pictures of the statue and leave their scent whatever that meant?!? We hightailed it outta there. TMI dude. Mortified by the story told to us we took another wrong turn and ended up somewhere at a dead end sign. Back to square one we finally find the right turn and find the cemetery that we had been searching for.

a

At the graveyard we took time to explore the old trains too bad the museum was closed. I broke the rules a few times and climbed on the trains whoops I must have missed the gazillion signs that said stay off the trains. Looking forward on we see a huge log and journey towards it to get a better look. We conclude that this sucker is a gazillion years old. Being the expert ring counter I am I lost count at 12,983,477? During this time on our adventure Lisa gets a call from some friends letting her know she is late for a concert she is supposed to be at. On that note we pile in Jack and rush to get Lisa home so she can make it to her show. I have to mention some honorable places we saw. Ko Ko Beans espresso!! That is my Coen's nick name co co beans or frijoles in espanol. Got Rice? how clever.

This was a make do adventure this week and that’s exactly what we did made do. It is amazing what you can come up with to do on the spur of the moment. Thanks for the help of Bekki and Jessica we discovered somewhere new to go. Whenever you get a chance check out the awesome trains in Snoqualmie not North Bend although there are some good sites there as well. Stay tuned in for next week when we head on search for that local artist that was supposed to be found this week. Henry if your out there ready or not here we come!!
