The Random Ramblers Crew took a two week vacation due to Easter and frankly we just needed a chill weekend to just kick back and relax. We would like to apologize to our weekly readers and hope you all understand the circumstances that lead to our absence. I hope we were missed.
This week’s adventure just sort of happened. Cadin was meeting friends for a movie so he sat this one out. This particular adventure wasn’t planned so I wasn’t able to get a hold of my good friend Lisa so her presence was greatly missed. Joining us this week is our very special guest my husband Jason. We were all really happy to be on an adventure with him for it had been awhile since he last appeared on one of our adventures. With all that being said sit back relax and enjoy!
It all started out with us dropping Cadin off at the theater. We asked Cadin to check what time the movie was out so we would know when to pick him up. He told us 4:30p.m. As we were driving away trying to figure out what to do I noticed the time and it was 3:45p.m. So I thought to myself hmmmmmmm…… a movie that starts at 3:45p.m. & ends at 4:30p.m. this to me just doesn’t make sense. I finally put two and two together that the movie doesn’t really start till 4:30p.m. So I figure we have about two hours for an adventure. It must be something simple.
I take a peek at Jason and say “How about the Peace Bowl.” Jason then goes on to say that it has been so long since we have been there that we will never be able to find it. Being the adventurous person that I am I set off to Kirkland to try to find the Peace Bowl. We made it to a familiar street and saw the entrance to what I thought was the right place. We all pile out of Jack and head toward the trail. While walking on the trail I have a feeling that we aren’t in the right place and Jason agrees. The biggest sign that we were headed in the wrong direction would actually be a sign that read KING COUNTY PROPERTY Enter and Use at Your Own Risk. Um yeah I am now starting to picture orange King County trucks chasing us on the trails because we aren’t really supposed to be there. We turn around and head back to Jack.
Jason then tells me “I think it is over in another part of Kirkland” called Houghton. I turn Jack around and head to Houghton. As we proceed up the hill to Houghton it all starts coming back to us. Jason yells “go Right.” At the last minute I took a right in to a neighborhood all the way through to a dead end and a small trail opening. Jason gets out to be sure and confirms we are at the right spot. With that said we hit the trails. Not too far on the path we make it to an opening and the infamous Peace Bowl. This concrete bowl is huge and in the middle is a Peace sign. You can climb down in the bowl and walk around. We had to be super careful though it looks like a place where people go to party. There is a lot of broken glass. Off to the right side is an over grown trail that leads to a huge tree. If you climb down to the tree you can climb it and get an amazing view of Seattle.
After thirty minutes or so we head back to Jack and to go pick up Cadin. On our way to get Cadin I notice a lady waiting at a bus stop with some random attire. I just had to get a picture of her. She must design her own clothing. Coen thought it would be great to snap a shot of the VW Bug rock right by Crossroads Theater, it just so happens to be right in front of the Washington State Licensing office. It is 5:30 and I have no idea what time Cadin’s movie lets out and of course I forgot my cell phone at home. That’s right folks you had better sit down for this one. I have a CELL PHONE!!!! All it took for Jason to agree was getting a promotion at work and even then he was still leery. I am such a big girl now. The guy at the window told me we still had another hour before the movie was over. Jason and I decided to go to Thai Chef for dinner.
Thai Chef is one of our favorite Thai restaurants that we usually order to go, but since we had and hour to blow we decided to eat in. It had been awhile since I had been in there. They completely remodeled and it looked really nice inside and super clean. We ordered 2 orders of Shrimp Pad Thai with extra shrimp one 4 star one 0 star, Spicy Basil with chicken and Satay Chicken for starters. All of our dishes were superb! Hands down to the chef at Thai Chef! Besides the food the next best part of this restaurant is the service. It is a family owned and operated restaurant. The owners and workers are so nice and polite. We have been going here for years. The couple that runs the show even remembers our regular order. Thai Chef is the place to go in Bellevue for Thai. Thai chef has the Ramblin Ramblers Crew Stamp of approval! Please note the pictures of the food don't look that great because we realized after we started eating we had forgotton to take the pics. Trust me it is yummy!
That concludes our adventure for this week. We invite you to enjoy our next adventure with us. Anybody who wants to a special guest star just let me know and we can pencil you in. We have no idea what we are doing next week; maybe we will finally be able to look for Henry who knows what next weekend will bring. Until then have a wonderful week!
